Master of Science (Biodiversity Conservation)
The Master of Science (Biodiversity Conservation) is an up-to-date programme offered by Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia that covers the fundamentals of biodiversity and conservation (from evolution to ecology) to advanced application such as bioinformatics, traditional knowledge conservation and naturebased tourism in today’s changing world. It is a 40-credit programme of combined coursework and dissertation (mixed-mode), and can be completed in a minimum of 3 semesters. The programme has a balanced approach of classroom and field-work based courses that takes advantage of various tropical ecosystems in Malaysia, both terrestrial and aquatic, while the dissertation will enhance the student’s research capability in various topics such as taxonomy, ecology, traditional knowledge, nature-tourism, ecosystem management, bioinformatics, among others. At the end of the programme, students are expected to have acquired advanced understanding in biodiversity and its conservation and would be able apply this knowledge in a multi- and transdisciplinary manner in a local and global setting.
